Robert H. de Vries

Personable and Professional Legal Services
Robert H. de Vries was born and raised in Alberta. He graduated from the University of Calgary Faculty of Management in 1983, then worked in the Oil and Gas sector as a revenue accountant for 15 years, then returned to University. In 1998, he obtained his B.A (1st class honours degree), and was admitted to the Faculty of Law in 2001. Mr. de Vries became a member of the Law Society of Alberta in 2005.

Robert primarily specializes in family and divorce law, though he has also practiced real estate, wills and estates, civil litigation and other areas. Mr. de Vries is well practiced in family law matters, divorces, common law separations, and division of matrimonial property.

Robert has a diverse background in life and in practice. Raised in the cattle country of Longview, Alberta, he worked as an accountant in the oil industry in Calgary, and now as a lawyer in Central Alberta. He is now focusing on the practice of matrimonial law, but brings some important experience from the practice of real estate, and wills and estate law. He has also handled large scale divorce issues, including farms and division of property. Mr. de Vries also has extensive experience in child support, custody, and other matters associated with divorce and family files.

Limited Scope Retainers

Limited scope retainers are a tool under which the firm can offer certain specialized tasks to our clients as a way to assist them without having to receive a full retainer. For example, if a client requires a separation agreement only, without a full-blown divorce, we can offer that to them for a fixed price. This can be modified if required to allow for more services if necessary. This allows us to assist persons who might otherwise be self-represented, to potentially reduce the cost of services to the client, and to allow the firm to provide certain more defined services. Please ask about this option when you make your appointment.
